Future Pros ’02 defeat Coaches Choice Mid-America 6-4.

CANTON – With preliminary round play at the 2018 Jr. Chowder Cup coming to a close, the Future Pros closed out their slate of ’02 division games with a 6-4 victory over Coaches Choice Mid-America 6-4 at the Canton Ice House.

Future Pros wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard, Max Ullman with the goal 58-seconds into the contest. Just past the midpoint of the first half, Ullman set up Nicolas Castracani to extend the lead to 2-0.

Peter Reynolds scored on the power play at 14:59 of the first half to cut Coaches Choice’s deficit to 2-1. Mackie Samoskevich then evened the scoreboard 2-2 at 5:43 of the second half.

The game’s goal swings continued as Future Pros went on to restore and then further pad their advantage. Sam Shakes at 9:14, Stephan McDonald at 13:36 and Ben van Waterschoot at15:13 of the second half made it 5-2.

There was one last rally for Coaches Choice, but it was not enough to completely erase their deficit. Another for Samoskevich and then a goal for Jackson McCarthy at 23:19 made it a one-goal game again. Coaches Choice was within striking distance at 5-4, but the kill shot came just 21-seconds after McCarthy’s tally. A power play goal by Ryan O’Donnell at 23:40 made for the 6-4 final score.

All six Future Pros goals came from a different skater, but five of their players still ended with multiple entries on the score sheet. van Waterschoot paced the game’s scoring with a three-point showing (1G, 2A). Shakes (1G, 1A), Ullman (1G, 1A), Stephen McDonald (1G, 1A) and Jonathan Bieber (2A) each credited with a pair.

Samoskevich’s two goals led the Coaches Choice offense.
