Former Pre-Draft Players Named to Canadian Junior National Team
We are happy to announce, that forward Ryan Johansen, selected 4th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets, and a player who participated in the 2007 Junior Chowder Cup, as well as the 2008 & 2009 Pre-Draft Showcases, and goaltender Olivier Roy, selected in the 5th Round by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, have both been named to the 2010 Canadian Junior National Team which will be competing in Buffalo, NY in the next two weeks. Both players were brought to Boston by coach Lou Gravel, with Johansen playing on his Team Canada West teams and Roy being placed with Dan Fontas’ New England Stars Team.
For Team USA, former Chowder Cup players Charlie Coyle, Chris Kreider, and Ryan Bourque are expected to be main cogs in the USA’s defense of their 2010 Gold Medal Championship.
Sweden born William Karlsson, who played on Coach Lou Gravel’s 2008 Team Canada West Euro team in the Junior Chowder Cup, presently is a member of the Sweden National U18 Team and leads the J20 Super Elite League, the top Junior League in Sweden, in scoring. Karlsson is expected to go high in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
