Euro Hockey 2 Notches Friday Morning Win

Svanberg’s late goal secures 5-4 decision.

FOXBORO – The first full day of play in the 2016 New England Pro-Am Hockey Pre-Draft Showcase opened on Friday morning. That day opened with Euro Hockey 2 coming up with a late goal to put them ahead of Hockey Essentials Red, 5-4, at the Foxboro Sports Center.

An opening minute goal by Martin Rova had Euro Hockey out front early, but the tide quickly turned as forward Nicholas Chaoush netted two of his own in the game’s first five minutes to get Essentials in front. Teddy Travis widened the gap to two just past mid-half, but Oskar Lindberg and Jacob Hedencrona had Euro Hockey back to even, 3-3, before the game’s intermission.

Augustus Hickle restored Essentials’ lead with his score at 11:51 of the second half, but once again Euro Hockey rallied. Jacob Lindvall getting the equalizer at 19:31 for a 4-4 score, before Andreas Svanberg put away the game-winner with just 1:25 remaining in the contest to secure the 5-4 victory.

Chanoush was the game’s leading goal-scorer with two, but Svanberg, Lindberg and Rova were each credited with multi-point showings in leading the Euro offense, totaling a goal and assist each.

Viktor Wennberg and Lukas Lundback combined for the win in net for Euro Hockey.
