Eels slip past Townshend, 6-1

Bounce back from tournament opening loss.

WALPOLE – After a tournament opening loss on Thursday, the Florida Eels rebounded on Friday to put themselves in position to advance in the 2015 Junior Chowder Cup, scoring a 6-1 win over Townshend Hockey Selects ’00 at Rodman Arena.

Much of the game’s offense came later in the second half, but that did not stop the Eels from staking themselves a lead through the opening 25-minutes. Twice in the frame they lit the lamp, the first of the tournament from Owen Delaney and second of the tournament from Cody Nolin accounting for the 2-0 lead.

Townshend put themselves in good position coming out of the break, Tibor Setteducatti scoring just 57-seconds in to cut the deficit in half. They could not capitalize on the momentum swing, however, and the Eels were back on the attack and back on the scoreboard at 8:47, Lucyan Pawlowciez restoring the two-goal advantage.

Three more times the Florida advantage grew as they reeled off four unanswered in the second to solidify their victory, finalized at 6-1.

All six Eels goals came from a different scorer, the only multi-point scorer on the game sheet being Drew Chase, who racked up two assists in the win. Joey Stanizzi and Kevin Dacey split the duties in the Florida net.
