CANTON –New England Pro Am Hockey’s College Summer Hockey League played their fifth week of the season on July 22 at the Canton Ice House.
Bruins 5 vs. Sharks 13:
It has been an up-and-down-and-up season thus far for the Sharks (2-1-0), who recovered from a Week 4 loss with a dominant Week 5 win over the struggling Bruins (0-5-0).
For the Bruins, it was their second best offensive output of the season, striking for two in the first and three in the second. Unfortunately, the Sharks matched the Bruins’ total for the game in the first half, before piling on an additional eight in the game’s final half.
A total of 10 Sharks were credited with a point in the contest, half of which had three or more. Brett Parker led the Sharks in scoring with three goals and three assists. Ryan Walsh and Landon Hasenfus also both had hat tricks, and both added an assist to their total for four-point nights. Brandon Wolf (2G, 1A) and Alex Wishes (1G, 2A) each got their names in the scoring column three times.
Ryan Nolte (2G) and John Femia (2A) led the Bruins’ offense in scoring, each with a two-point night.
Vegas 8 vs. Penguins 2:
It has been four contests thus far in the College Summer League for the Vegas squad, and they have yet to lose. They improved their recorded to 3-0-1 on Monday with an 8-2 victory over the Penguins (2-0-1), dealing them their first loss of the season.
Vegas hung a quick three spot on the Pens in the first half, while netminder Alex Crone kept his opponents off the board to send the game back to the locker room with the score set at 3-0.
Coming back, both sides stepped up their offensive game. The Penguins finally got on the board with two scores in the frame. Unfortunately for them, not only were they unable to catch Vegas, but Vegas bettered their goal total from the first with an additional five in the second. The contest ended with a score of 8-2.
Nate Chase was the unstoppable offensive force in the night, racking up five points in the contest with two goals and three assists for the Sharks. Nate Deluca also kicked in a hat trick for the victors, while Joe McKenely and Brenden Lloyd both chipped in a goal and an assist.
A pair of assists for Joe Olson led the Penguins offense.
