CANTON – After a few games played on Thursday night, the first official day of New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2018 Pre-Draft Showcase began on Friday morning. Doing so with a 3-1 Canada West Elite Prospects Red win over East Coast Militia Premier at the Canton Ice House.
Canada West controlled the scoreboard throughout, and did not take all too long before assuming control. Stephen Owens notched the game’s first tally just 1:29 after the game’s opening faceoff. Taylor Ewing then made it a 2-0 Canada West advantage less than 30-seconds later at 1:54, off an assist from Shawn Milord.
The two-goal cushion remained as it was until late in the second half when Owens returned to the score sheet to put the game away with another unassisted tally. The third Canada West score coming at 18:50 of the second.
East Coast did cut into their deficit, but their lone score – an unassisted Shane Brait mark – came with just 1:40 remaining on the game clock. It was the beginning and the end of the comeback bid for the Militia, setting the score at its 3-1 final.
Parker Rey was credited with the win in net for Canada West.
