Canada West Black still alive following win

A 3-1 victory over Pro Performance keeps ’99 Division playoffs in play.

WALPOLE – Needing a win to have any hopes of advancement, Canada West Black came through on Saturday morning at Rodman Arena, beating Pro Performance Hockey 3-1 in their final game of ’99 Division pool play.

The scoring was mum through the opening half, West and Pro Performance skating to a 0-0 draw through 25:00. In contrary to the first, however, just five seconds into the final half and Canada West was off and running, F-A Labrie with the goal for a 1-0 lead.

The Canada West lead grew at 5:02 when Labrie came through again, notching his second of the game and fifth of the tournament. They seemed as though they had gained complete control of the contest when Ayden Schwetz upped the advantage to a commanding 3-0 at 10:52, but Drew Lorinchak got Pro Performance on the board less than a minute later, scoring his first of the tournament at 11:45.

Pro Performance, however, could get no closer than two as goaltender Robert Nawrot and the Canada West defense kept them off the board the rest of the way, securing the 3-1 win.
