ATTLEBORO – Black Bears Summer Academy closed out their preliminary round of College Open games at the 2019 St. Chowder Cup with a win on Saturday at the New England Sports Village. They defeated the Eels 5-1.
The Black Bears made good strides towards their victory in the first half when their offense put away a pair, while their defense and goaltender Danny Vallesio kept the Eels off the board.
Already ahead 2-0, the Black Bears added another three out of halftime break to extend their advantage to five. A power play goal by Jonathan Jalbert at 17:43 stemmed the Black Bear assault and finally got the Eels on the board, but it was all the remaining offense there was to be had. The contest ended 5-1.
Matthew Burke (1G, 2A) led the contest in scoring with three points for the victors. Hunter Fetterolf (1G, 1A) and Will Sobaski (2A) were also both credited with multiple points in the contest for the Black Bears.
