Bandits shutout KGHD in rout

Boston continues to roll in opening round.

FOXBORO – There is still one game to be played in the opening round of the 2015 Midget Fall Classic for the U18 Division’s Boston Bandits, but so far everything has broken in their favor. They won their second straight game of the tournament on Sunday, the Bandits hanging an 11-0 rout on KGHD at Foxboro Sports Center.

It was score early, score often against KGHD as the Bandits were on the board just 2:16 into the contest, Jake Cavalloro with the tally. It was Cavalloro’s first goal of the tournament and Boston’s first of a total of nine goals scored in the game’s opening 25 minutes, two each coming from Billy Grant, Jacob Miller, Brandon Peters and Nick Flanders.

Leading 9-0 at the break, the damage was done and the Bandits offense quieted in the second half, while their defense remained stout. Only twice did Boston score in the latter frame, both Grant and Miller finishing off their hat tricks to complete the 11-0 final.

His third goal was the final of a game-high five points for Grant, who was credited with three goals and two assists. The Bandits received big totals as well from Peters (2G, 2A) and Chad Merrell (4A), each credited with four points.
