Advantage triples Vikings

Late rally leads to comfortable win.

FOXBORO – Though they struggled in their afternoon match – a lopsided loss to the Valley Jr. Warriors – Advantage Ice U16 opened their Midget Classic tournament schedule strong, posting a 6-2 victory over Vikings Hockey on Saturday morning.

It was a quiet first half for the Vikings and Advantage, more than half the time elapsed before either side was able to break into the scoring column. First to do so was Advantage’s Alex Brissette, credited with the first of an eventual three goals and four-points in the contest at 13:32. Kevin Sims, who also had multiple goals in the game, doubled Advantage’s lead to 2-0 just before the half, scoring at 24:01.

For as quiet as it was in the first 25-minutes, it was as loud in the second, both sides combining to put away six in the frame. Joe Tansino got the Vikings on the board just 55-seconds into the second half, cutting their deficit to one. After teams traded quick blows, scoring just 45-seconds apart at the 6:51 and 7:36 marks to keep it a one-goal game, Advantage began to push away late, by closing the game with three unanswered. Connor McCarthy restored Advantage’s two-goal cushion from the first half with a tally at 10:49. Brissette completed his hat trick at 14:23, while Sims capped the game’s scoring at 22:11, making it 6-2 Advantage.
