FOXBORO – The 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup has come to a close and it has done so with Arsenal Hockey crowned champion of the College Open division. They defeated Roc City Elite 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Much of the contest was controlled by both defense and goaltending as scoring chances were difficult to come by throughout. While they were few, Arsenal made sure to cash in on those few scoring opportunities they did have.
Dylan Lugris was the first to cash in, scoring off a snapshot at 15:28 to put Arsenal on the board. Quentin Pepper – who was named the division’s most valuable player after the contest – netted a power player goal that would later be the game-winner at 17:37. And Cameron Bauer then made it 3-0 in favor of Arsenal at 17:56.
Some nifty play in front of the net led to a John Cagnassoia goal at 22:26 that put Roc City on the scoreboard, but with just 2:34 left in regulation there was not enough time for a comeback to be mounted. The contest ended 3-1 and Arsenal Hockey was named the College Open Division Champion of the 2019 Sr. Chowder Cup.
