2019 Midget Fall Classic; Sunday games – 6p.

FOXBORO –The final day of round robin play at New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2019 Midget Fall Classic closed out on Sunday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center. The following is a look at the reported 6 p.m. games.

Rink 1 – Wonderland Wizards U16 3 vs. Providence Hockey Club U16 South 4:

Providence Hockey Club closed out their round robin set at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic with a win on Sunday evening as they staved off a rally by the Wonderland Wizards for a 4-3 win.

PHC lead 2-0 at the halftime break. Wonderland opened the second half scoring to make it 2-1, but Providence netted another pair following for a 4-1 advantage.

Goals from Robert Winter and Aaron Wong had Wonderland back to within one at 4-3, but the full comeback fell short as the score was finalized.

Cameron Gaffney continued his goal-scoring tear throughout the tournament, doubling his overall goal total with three in the contest to lead the Providence offense.

Rink 2 – North Jersey Avalanche 5 vs. Valley Jr. Warriors 0:

The North Jersey Avalanche made it a clean 3-0-0 sweep throughout the opening round of the 2019 Midget Fall Classic by posting a 5-nil clean sheet on the Valley Jr. Warriors on Sunday evening at the Foxboro Sports Center.

North Jersey came out with three goals in the first – one from Eduard Dovgan and two from Wyatt Levy – to stake a comfortable cushion over their foe. The 3-0, first half lead would have been more than enough, but the Avalanche added two more in the second to solidify their 5-0 victory. Matt DiCarlo and Ethan Pakola coming through with the additional goals.

Ricky Palmeri coming through with his second victory of the day and first shutout of the tournament in the Avs goal net.

Rink 3 – Boston Jr. Huskies Red (Beshwati) 2 vs. Central Connecticut Capitals U16 3:

In a battle to win their bracket, the Central Connecticut Capitals narrowly edged out the Boston Jr. Huskies for the 3-2 victory and a perfect 3-0-0 opening round record at the 2019 Midget Fall Classic.

Luke Festa scored in the first half and then teammate Chase Millen opened the second half scoring to make it 2-0 in favor of the Capitals. The Huskies rallied on goals by Justin Yatsuhashi and David Lawler to draw the game back to even at 2-2.

Brody Davidson’s third goal of the tournament came at 22:23 of the second half and made it a 3-2 victory in favor of the Capitals.
