Wildcats outlasts Elite Hockey.

ATTLEBORO – As the second day of pool play at the 2019 Pre-Draft Showcase got underway, the Northern Vermont Wildcats earned their second win of the tournament in as many games when they defeated Elite Hockey Battalion 7-6 on Saturday morning at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro.

The Wildcats got the scoring early, but it was the Battalion who had the advantage by the opening half’s conclusion, leading by a score of 4-3. A pair of goals by Walter Zacher and one each from Jon Horn and Nathan Parakyz accounted for the Battalion’s scoring. Will Darling had a pair and Ron Bregante scored for the three Wildcats’ goals in the half.

While the Battalion scoring slowed upon return for the second, the Wildcat machine bettered its pace. It was their turn to score four goals in a half as Darling added one more to his credit and Murphy LePage matched his teammate’s hat trick.

The Battalion notched a pair of their own in the second frame – Zacher completed his hat trick and Dmitry Ignatov added a goal of his own – but they were not able to overtake their foe for a second time as the game finished 7-6.
