Panthers over Mass Attack, 2-1.

CANTON – In their first of two games on the day, the Western Mass Panthers defeated Mass Attack 2-1 on Saturday morning at the Canton Ice House.

Though it did start early, there was not much scoring to be had in the contest. Western Mass broke the scoreless tie first, a goal from Matthew Burke coming at 3:05. The lead held for about 10 minutes before Andrew Flaherty brought Mass Attack back to even with a score at 13:46. Dante Dambrosio with the assist on the equalizer.

The Panthers had regained their lead with a second score coming just seconds before the break. Kouji Ishida came through just 12-seconds before intermission on a goal assisted on by Burke and Brendan Spaulding, making it 2-1 at the half.

There was still plenty of time for more goals to be scored, but Ishida’s goal would stand up as the game-winner. Defenses clamped down and neither side was able to come through in the second, resulting in a 2-1 final in favor of Western Mass.
