FOXBORO – Just prior to the start of the summer tournament season, New England Pro Am Hockey renamed the Jr. Chowder Cup to the Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup to honor the longtime NHL scout and friend of the program. There is, however, another who may just be able to claim naming rights to the tournament.
For the third straight summer, it was the All-American Prospects taking home the top title of the Jr. Chowder Cup. In 2017 it was the 2001 Division. The 2002 Division in 2018. In 2019, it was the Prospects 2003 squads’ turn, which they capitalized on as they defeated Roc City Elite 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center.
All-American grabbed the early lead on a goal by Adam O’Marra at 3:07, but it was Roc City who seemed to have a hold of the game’s play through the first half of the contest. Goaltender Thomas Heaney and the Prospects defense, however, held strong, as did the 1-0 lead.
The deflating dagger came at 12:51 when Ethan Lindsay jammed one home through a pile-up on the side of the net to make it 2-0 in favor of All-American. From then on, the game was theirs.
Ryan Remick chipped in a backhand at 14:01 to make it 3-0 and then Jack Musa – who went on to be named tournament MVP – sealed the 4-0 victory and 2003 Division Championship at the 2019 Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup with an empty net goal at 23:05.
